Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday claimed that the farmers are suspicious over the paddy procurement in the upcoming season as the Cabinet Minister Md Akbar stated that the Chhattisgarh government would procure the paddy as per the support price of Central government whereas the state government had been making an announcement to provide Rs 2500 per quintal to the farmers during the paddy procurement.
BJP Spokesperson Rajesh Munat said that state government should clear the scenario over the paddy procurement. He also stated that what would happen to the difference of amount promised to the farmers against the paddy procurement. Munat also had a dig on state government mentioning that the state government is yet to clear the outstanding amount of paddy procurement to the farmers. He said that it is injustice to the farmers that they have been paid amount in installments under Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Scheme introduced by the state government.
Munat state that while the farmers are ready with their paddy for sale through the co-operative societies, the fresh statement of Cabinet Minister Md Akbar has further added suspension on the actual price of paddy from the farmers.
Munat also raised demand from the state government to announce to pay the entire amount of paddy procurement to the farmers in a single installment as per the new agriculture law of Centre.
