Govt failed to handle brewing unrest among Cops in Bijapur: Netam

Raipur, Dec 11: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Rajya Sabha member Ramvichar Netam on Saturday said that the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel led Congress government has failed to handle the brewing unrest among Assistant Constables as no concrete steps have been taken to solve the problem.
Addressing a press conference at party office situated at Ekatma Parishar here, the former Home Minister Netam claimed that the unrest among Constable is related with internal security as the incident has taken place in the naxal-infested Bijapur district of Bastar. He said that more than 1000 Assistant Constables have submitted their weapons as part of the protest against the alleged lath charge incident on the agitating family members of the Assistant Constable in support to their various demands.
Netam added that the state government has constituted a committee to just delay to find solution to the problems whereas the state government should had been prompt to take immediate steps to solve the problem by considering into the demands of the agitating family members of Policemen.
Former HM Netam said that the Assistant Constable have a specific role in the naxal-infested are as they are well aware with the geographical situation as well as the local language spoken by the naxalites.
Netam said that if the state government fails to take steps to settle the issue, the BJP would approach Union Home Ministry to take appropriate steps on the issue as the subject is related with internal security of the nation.
