Raipur, May 19: While the sharing of Dias of Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) President Hira Singh Markam with the All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi during his two-day visit to Chhattisgarh has added strength to the party in the tribal-dominated region, the changed political scenario has created dilemma for the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) Working President Ramdayal Uike. The reason stated behind is that the GGP supremo had staked claim for the Pali-Tanakhar constituency in Korba District for himself on the grounds of his traditional seat as they want to forge an alliance in the next Legislative Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. It resulted in speculation that CPCC Working President Ramdayal Uike may be shifted to his old constituency, Marwahi, presently the strong hold of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) supremo Ajit Jogi, for which the Pali Tanakhar had vacated his seat to create entry of Jogi in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly after he was sworn-in as first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh.
It is notable that the GGP during the recently concluded Executive body meeting of the party has announced first list of candidates for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections in which name of party supremo Hira Singh Markam has been declared from ST reserved Pali Tanakhar seat and had unsuccessfully contested last election against the sitting MLA Ramdayal Uike from the constituency. GGP has announced candidates for 11 seats in the first list declared. GGP has major share of vote among the tribals in tribal-dominated Sarguja, Jashpur, Raigarh as well as Bilaspur segment and their alliance would well play decisive role in the next Legislative Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh.
While the top Congress leaders are buoyed with the alliance as it may boost the prospect of the party in the next Legislative Assembly elections, it has left Uike fuming against them as it would make difficult for him to take up the challenge from his former mentor Jogi in the Marwahi constituency as the scenario is heading towards possible contest against member from Jogi family.
However, it could be just a beginning for the top leaders as few others would be facing similar situation of dilemma if the other smaller parties like Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) might claim for more seats under the possible alliance in future.
