Raipur: In a bizarre instance of tele-fraud, unidentified accused duped a trader of Jawahar Nagar of Rs 2.22 lakh on pretext of providing him two nos. latest models of iPhone with VIP number of Airtel Company. According to police, victim Pawan Pincha is owner of M/s. Express Trade Com Pvt. Ltd. situated at GST Tower in Jawahar Nagar. On the afternoon of July 15 last, Pincha received a message on his mobile phone wherein it was informed that his telephone number has won two nos. of latest model of iPhone with VIP number from Airtel Company.
Further contacting on the given telephones numbers it was told that the gift can be obtained upon depositing a total sum of Rs 222222, that is, Rs 111111 per phone. After elaborate discussion with the person on the other side of the call, Pincha electronically transferred the asked amount into the provided bank account. While the payment was successfully transferred, nothing was provided to him as promised. Pincha then contacted the local office of Airtel Company to enquire about the delay in providing him the promised phones with VIP number.
To his utter shock, the company told him that there was never ever any such offer floated by the company nor had the telephone numbers over which he had talked to are associated with Airtel Company in any capacity. Stunned by this revelation, Pincha then contacted his bank about the transaction he had done with the provided bank account number. It was soon revealed that the money deposited by him was transferred into the account of one Prateek Nikam being maintained in Nasik branch of IDBI Bank and the money was instantly withdrawn upon depositing in it.
Possessing all these details, Pincha got registered a complaint in Moudhapara police station through his employee Piyush Chouhan following which police registered an offence under Section 420 IPC against holders of telephone number 93291-02092 and 86688-21683. Further investigation in this regard is now reported to be underway. Meanwhile, highly reliable sources in capital police have informed that Moudhapara police in association of Cyber Cell have succeeded in nabbing two suspects from Nasik and have since brought them to Raipur for further interrogation.
