Former corporator held for attempt to murder

Bhilai, Sep 26: Utai Police arrested two persons on charges of attempt to murder. The prime accused is a former corporator. Following an argument, he had attacked an ex-army man with a knife. Police have seized the weapon and the bike used in the crime.

Utai Police Station had received information that a person in village Dundera was attacked with a sharp knife. The injured has been admitted to Sector 09 Hospital. Team of Utai Police Station immediately reached the hospital and the statement of fatally injured victim Tikam Lal Sahu (38) son of Late Sudama Ram Sahu was recorded in the presence of the executive magistrate.

Taking the matter into serious cognizance, SP Dr Abhishek Pallav and Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Anant Sahu directed the Newai Police Station to ensure immediate arrest of the accused. On the instructions of SDOP (Patan) Devansh Rathore, Utai Police Station team led by Inspector Navi Monika Pandey conducted crime scene investigation and recorded statements of the eye witnesses. Later the accused Sanju Sahu was arrested from Raipur.

The accused Sanju Sahu confessed to the crime and disclosed in his statement that a meeting was held in village Dundera on Sep 23 evening in connection with the celebration of the upcoming Dussehra festival. During the meeting, Tikam Lal Sahu argued with Sanju Sahu repeatedly. Later, Sanju collected a knife from his house and in a fit of rage attacked Tikam Sahu on chest, abdomen and legs. After committing the crime, he fled with his friend Chova Ram Sahu on a bike. They reached Kumhari where he bought a T-shirt and changed his clothes in the wash room of a petrol pump. Then they escaped to Bhathagaon, Raipur.

Inspector Navi Manika Pandey (SHO, Utai), Sub-Inspector Kundan Lal Gaur, ASI Rajkumar Deshmukh, ASI Ashwani, ASI Sheikh, Head Constable Roman Sonwani, Constables Rajkumar Chandra, Vikrant Yadu, Akash Tiwari, Dushyant Lehre, Vijay Kurre, Mukesh Yadav, Shikhar Bhatt played a vital role in arresting the accused.
