Five day event of Int’nl Tribal Festival and Rajyotsava from Oct 28 Nov 1

Raipur, Sep 26: In a high-level meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the outline of the Tribal Festival and Rajyotsava to be organized this year was decided. A five-day event of “Sal International Tribal Festival and Rajyotsava” will be jointly organized by the state government from October 28 to November 1 at the Science College ground in Raipur.
The Chief Minister said that Sal is the state tree of Chhattisgarh. Sal tree has great importance in tribal culture.
Our tribal brothers consider and worship the Sal tree as a deity. Sal tree is worshiped in the Sarhul festival celebrated with joy in the tribal area. Keeping in view the importance of the Sal tree as the state tree and its significance in tribal life, it would be appropriate to name the Tribal Festival as “Sal International Tribal Festival”.
The Chief Minister said that during the “Sal International Tribal Festival”, programs based on the art, culture, crafts, empowerment and development of tribals should be organized.
It was decided in the meeting to organize International Tribal Festival from October 28 to October 30, while on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and martyrdom day of former Prime Minister Late Smt. Indira Gandhi on October 31, a conference on their contribution and tribal life will be organized in which famous speakers and thinkers will participate. In the state felicitation ceremony on November 1, eminent people and institutions who have made remarkable contribution in various fields including art, culture, development of Chhattisgarh will be honored. It was decided in the meeting that during the Sal International Tribal Festival and Rajyotsava, many programs including interaction with eminent people in various fields, exhibition, live display of tribal art and culture, tribal craft fair, skill upgradation program will be organized. Artists of the country and abroad will present their programs during the events.
On this occasion, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, Urban Administration Minister Dr. Shiv Kumar Dahriya, Food and Culture Minister Amarjit Bhagat, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar, Revenue Minister Jai Singh Agrawal, were present at the Chief Minister’s residence. Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Subrat Sahoo, Principal Secretary School Education Department, Dr. Alok Shukla, Secretary Culture and Tourism Department Anbalgan P., Secretary Finance Alarmelmangai D., Secretary to Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Secretary Tribal Welfare DD Singh and other officials were present.
