Emotional tribute paid to the martyrs of Jhiram Valley

Konta, May 25: On 25 May 2013, senior leaders and soldiers who were martyred in the Jhiram Valley Naxalite attack of Bastar were today paid a warm tribute by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, including the state cabinet, public representatives and officials.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel while paying tribute to the martyrs said that their martyrdom will not go in vain. The Chief Minister expressed condolences to all the martyred people and their families, calling it a dark day of history. MLA Mohan Markam, Brihaspati Singh, Advisor to Chief Minister Vinod Verma and Rajesh Tiwari, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Subrata Sahu were present in the virtual condolence program organized at the Chief Minister’s residence. Raja Sasand PL Punia was virtually involved in the event.
District Panchayat President Harish Kavasi, Vice President Shri Boddu Raja, Sukma Collector Vineet Nandanwar, Sukma Superintendent of Police KL Dhruv, District Panchayat CEO Nutan Kumar Kanwar were present in the tribute program from Sukma District Office’s Swanamakar. All paid tribute to the martyrs and expressed their condolences to those who sacrificed their lives in the Jhiram Valley by holding a two-minute silence.
On this occasion, the statue of Shaheed Mahendra Karma was unveiled in Dantewada and Jagdalpur. These statues have been installed in Bastar University campus and Dimarapal. The hospital of Baliram Kashyap Smriti Chikitsa College was named after Shaheed Mahendra Karma.
