Eight held for gambling in public place

Bhilai, Aug 30: Police have rounded up eight ruffians on charges of gambling on playing cards in a public place. According to information, the Jamul Police Station received information regarding some people who were sitting infront of a locked house and were gambling on playing cards.
Acting on this tip off, police team conducted raid at Asharam Bapu Nagar located on Jamul – Nandini Road and rounded up eight gamblers.
Rs 176480 cash, playing cards, nine nos mobile phones, three cars, total worth Rs 2880480 were seized from their possession. The accused were booked under the provisions mentioned in section 13 of Gambling Act.
The arrested gamblers are identified as Sachchidanand Pandet (55) of Camp-1; Lavkush Dhimar (22) of Nardha (Jamul); Aslam Sheikh (43) of Chhawani; Ashish Pradhan (35) of Kailash Nagar; Ramesh Sahu (33) of Ward 2, Jamul; Subhash Kumar (34) of Rishabh City, Durg; Raju Pal (34) of Zone 1, Chhawani; and Pitambar (38) of Camp2, Chhawani.
