Durg Police scores century in arrests made for online betting

Bhilai, Sep 28: With the arrest of another ten ruffians involved in online betting, Durg Police scored a century within eight days in the arrests made for this category of offence. In the recent arrests, police recovered 14580 cash, mobile phones, betting records and calculators from the possession of the accused. It was a joint operation conducted by Anti Crime and Cyber Unit as well as police stations of Durg, Padmanabhapur Chowki, Mohan Nagar, Jamul and Chhawani.

SP Dr Abhishek Pallava informed that they have been conducting an intensive operation against the illegal online betting for the last few days. A number of ruffians involved in this illegal activity have been arrested. On the basis of information received from them and analysis of data, Police are further tracing other people involved in online betting. The network of informers has been activated and vigil is being maintained on the activities of suspects. In this sequel, another ten bookies have been arrested.

The accused are identified as Sunil Vishwakarma (33) of Diprapara, Durg; Lalchand Devdas (19) of Subhash Chowk Borsi; Mukesh Chauhan (33) of Green Chowki, Dur; Lucky Singh (22) of Laxmipara, jamul; Ravi Nishad (300 of Bapu Nagar, Khursipar; Champeshwar Baghel (40) of Santoshipara, Chhawani; Neeraj Prasad (30) of Milan Chowk, Chhawani; Bhanupratap Manhare (36) of Talpuri Bhilai; Sagar Jaiswal (21) of Camp-2, Chhawani and Vishal Sonkar (40) of Camp-2, Chhawani.

During the last eight days, Police have so far taken against about 100 people associated with online betting activity. The special operation of the Durg Police will continue in future as well.
