Central Chronicle News
Khairagarh, Jul 24: Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey on Friday participated in the online lecture program organised by Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav on the occasion of 75th year of independence on “Contribution of Women of Chhattisgarh in Indian Freedom Struggle”. She said that all sections of the society participated equally in the freedom struggle, but the names of female warriors were not recorded as prominently as compared to the male freedom fighters. The universities of the state should do research on this subject so that the names of anonymous women freedom fighters are also written in golden letters in the pages of history. Contribution of our women warriors should also be included in the curriculum. The Governor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced to celebrate the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence on the completion of 75 years of the country’s independence. In this context, this festival is being organised across the country. Thanks to this Amrit Mahotsav, the contribution of such freedom fighters, who have remained anonymous, is also being remembered across the country. The Governor said that many national movements were organised under the leadership of many great heroes including the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, in which along with men, women also contributed. In the history of our national movement, there are many women who, along with family roles, participated in nationalist activities and displayed valor and courage. Mahatma Gandhi himself used to admit that this struggle for freedom would not have been possible without the contribution of our mothers and sisters. The spread of education and movements against social evils created awareness among women. In the national movement going on in the country, along with the male freedom fighters of Chhattisgarh, many women of Chhattisgarh also participated equally.
Among them the names of Dr. Radha Bai, Mrs. Rohini Bai Parganiha, Mrs. Phoolkunwar Bai, Mrs. Bela Bai, Mrs. Kekti Bai Baghel, Mrs. Rukhmani Bai and Mrs. Daya Bai are notable from Chhattisgarh. Apart from these innumerable women also participated in the national movement, but their names are not recorded anywhere in history. Ms. Uikey especially congratulated the University for organizing such a good lecture and said that in fact men and women participated equally in the national freedom struggle and women had contributed indirectly to it, but because of our social structure, women have been left behind and their contribution has not been properly assessed by historians. She said that Chhattisgarh is a tribal dominated state and there were many agitations/revolts for independence in the tribal areas in which everyone participated. There is a lack of authentic information on this subject. The Governor said that today’s new generation must keep information about their heritage, culture and always take inspiration from our glorious history. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Mrs. Mokshada Chandrakar, former President of Chhattisgarh State Hindi Granth Academy, Mr. Shashank Sharma, Dr. Yogendra Choubey, Director of the Drama Department of the University also gave their address. Vice-Chancellors and students of various universities also participated in this webinar.
