Discrimination in Covid vaccination not justified: HC
Raipur, May 04: The applications for intervention in reservation in COVID vaccination policy of Chhattisgarh were heard in double bench of High Court on Tuesday. The High Court has strongly objected to the implementation of reservation in COVID vaccination and said that such discrimination would not be justified in vaccination. The High Court has directed the government to make a policy in two days regarding vaccination.
Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) state president Amit Jogi filed an application for intervention in the High Court against the implementation of reservation in COVID vaccination by the state government. He requested for a hearing on the PIL pending in the High Court by considering it applications for intervention.
More than five petitions seeking intervention in reservation in COVID vaccination policy were filed. All these petitions were heard on Tuesday in a bench of High Court Chief Justice PR Ramachandra Menon and Justice PP Sahu through video conferencing.
During intervention, advocates including petitioner Kishore Bhaduri objected to the implementation of reservation by the government in vaccination saying that although World Health Organization set priorities on vaccination yet no reservation was given in it. The government has violated the constitutional rights of the people of the state. It was demanded to immediately repeal this order of government and chalk out a new policy.
