Chief Secretary RP Mandal on Tuesday directed the Divisional Commissioners, District Collectors, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Panchayat, District Marketing Officers to ensure adequate preparations are being made before paddy procurement from December 1.
Addressing the officials, he said that target to procure 90 lakh metric tones of paddy has been set this year. He said that officials should ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience at the paddy procurement centres. Marketing Federation Managing Director informed that 42 thousand PDS and 1.23 Gathan gunny bags through Rice Millers have been made available presently for the paddy procurement. 157 new Procurement Centres have been established this year for convenience of farmers.
Chief Secretary said that COVID 19 protocol should be ensured during the paddy procurement.
Additional Chief Secretary Renu Pillai, Principal Secretary Gaurav Dwevedi, Secretary Kamalpreet singh, Reeta Shandilya, Prasanna R, Ankit Anand and Himshikhar Gupta were also present during the meeting held through video conferencing.
