Raipur, Oct 09: With anti-incumbency factor against the several sitting Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) on cards, the heavy-weights from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) too are desperate to change the Legislative Assembly constituency during the November elections.
Prominent among those struggling for the survival are Cabinet Minister Kedar Kashyap who is reportedly seeking shift in his constituency from the current seat of Narayanpur to Antagarh as the internal survey conducted by his associates has gone against him in the upcoming elections. Similarly, the Minister for Higher Education Prem Prakash Pandey is caught in dilemma i.e. to contest the upcoming elections from his traditional Bhilai constituency or to shift to neighbouring Vaishali Nagar seat which is considered to be more favourable for him.
Former Minister and OBC leader Chandrashekhar Sahu also wants to contest the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections from the neighbouring Raipur Rural or Rajim constituency against the traditional seat of Abhanpur in Raipur District. Senior tribal leader and Rajya Sabha member Ramvichar Netam who unsuccessfully contested the last Legislative Assembly elections from Ramanuj Ganj constituency is keen to try his hands in Chhattisgarh politics once again but he is eyeing the Pratappur Legislative Assembly seat in place of his traditional segment. It has led to difference with the Home Minister Ramsewak Paikra who is presently representing Pratappur in the 90-member Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.
Apart from them, few other heavy-weights like Member of Parliament (MP) from Kanker Lok Sabha constituency and Sarguja MP Kamalbhan Singh are vying for the party ticket in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections instead of seeking re-entry into Parliament. BJP think-tank too wants both the MPs to field in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections as it feels that it would help them achieve the target of 65 plus seats in Chhattisgarh
elections.
