COVID-19: Chhattisgarh holds e-Lok Adalat via video conferencing

In Chhattisgarh, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, an e-Lok Adalat is being held today. Under the e-lok adalat, the virtual hearings of the pending cases are being conducted through video conferencing.

The executive chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra said that over 3 thousand cases will be heard in more than 200 benches of various districts across the state including the high court in Bilaspur. There will be live streaming of an e-Lok Adalat.

In the wake of the financial crisis faced by the people and the lawyers owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the high court and Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority decided to organise e-Lok Adalat for resolving the pending cases.

All district courts and tehsil courts along with the high court will be part of the e-Lok Adalat.

If parties and lawyers have difficulty in connecting through video conferencing, they can also present their case via WhatsApp video calls.
