Raipur, Sep 22: Amid crisis arising out of Coronavirus pandemic in the capital Raipur the contract health workers have begun indefinite strike today in support of their demand. Prior to going on strike the contract workers submitted a list of agitating workers to district medical officer. About 400 contract workers agreed to stop works in support of the demand for regularisation. List of 150 of them has become ready.
Agitating workers said that regularisation is their single-point demand. They are working on contractual basis for the last 15 to 20 years but they are getting salary of only Rs 13000 every month. They asserted that they will not return to their works till their demand was fulfilled. They will continue to be on indefinite strike.
According to CMHO Meera Baghel about 700 contract health workers are working in Raipur district and list of 150 of them has been received. These 150 workers have stopped the work. According to CMHO alternative arrangement would be made to ensure that strike does not affect works.
