Concept plan prepared to develop Sirpur as a heritage site in Buddhist theme

Raipur, Jul 07: On the special initiative of Tourism Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, a concept plan has been prepared to develop Sirpur, a tourist place of historical, religious and archaeological importance of Chhattisgarh, as a heritage site in a Buddhist theme. It is planned to be developed in three phases with an expenditure of Rs. 62.96 crore. According to the plan, Rs 32.94 crore will be spent in the first phase. In the first phase, three grand reception gates, parking with signage, admin building (ticket counter, reception, waiting area, manager and staff room), landscaping, construction of 15 small bridge, toilets, Buddhist theme park, Pinching of stones and pavements at Raikera pond, cycle tracks and 15 food stalls and open air theaters will be constructed. In the second phase, walking trails and resting places, toilet blocks and parking areas will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 17.93 crore and in the third phase, over-all site, motor trails and museum and toilets will be constructed at a cost of Rs.12.08 crore. In the financial year 2021-22, a provision of Rs 5 crore has been made for the development of Sirpur under the new head in the budget.
