Coal production likely to reach 1,000 million tonnes by next year: Pralhad Joshi

The coal production during the current year is expected to be reaching 900 million tonnes and it is expected to reach 1,000 million tonnes by next year. Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi informed this in the Lok Sabha during Question Hour today.

Replying to supplementaries, the Minister said, the coal production is increasing due to various measures taken by the government during the past few years. He said, by next year, the production of Coal India Limited is expected to reach one billion tonnes. The Minister said, production will soon start in some of the abandoned coal fields.
