CMM Mazdoor Karyakarta Samiti stages chakkajam

Bhilai, Dec 17: On Friday, the activists of Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha Mazdoor Karyakarta Samiti staged symbolic chakkajam at Nehru Nagar Square. They were pressing a charter of demands regarding the workers of Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College, Kachandur.
It needs to be mentioned here that after the acquisition of Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College by the Chhattisgarh government, workers have been agitating for the last four months pressing the demand of regularizing the services of the workers who were already working in this institute.
Consistently their demands have been conveyed through memorandums to the District Administration, Governor, Health Minister, Health Secretary and Chief Minister. Due to unemployment over the last four months, workers are suffering extreme financial crisis. The union is constantly seeking appointment for a meeting with the Chief Minister of the state. Till now, the union was unable to meet the Chief Minister. On the other hand, no initiative is being taken by the district administration.
Highly aggrieved workers raising the slogan “Do or Die” staged road blockade at Nehru Nagar Square on National Highway. Traffic movement remained affected for about 30 minutes due to the sudden chakkajam. Long queue of vehicles was formed on both the sides of national highway. Police team reached the spot and negotiated with the demonstrators.
The cops and officials of district administration managed to diffuse the tension and persuaded the demonstrators to withdraw the demonstration. The agitators warned that if any positive initiative is not taken within a week, they will resort to aggressive agitation.
Rajkumar Gupta of Chhattisgarh Pragatisheel Kisan Sangh, Jaiprakash Nair, Kaladas Dahriya from Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha, Sumit, Dhanush, Devraj, Taran, Malaki, Sunil, Ruchi, Anita, Monica, Shila, Geeta Rukhmani and other workers of CCM Medical College were present.
