CM gave in-principle consent for implementation of ‘RDSS’ in the state

Raipur, Sep 23: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel virtually attended the meeting chaired by Union Minister New and Renewable Energy Rajkumar Singh today, from his residence office. Chief Minister had a detailed discussion with the Union Minister regarding the implementation of Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme in Chhattisgarh. Energy Ministers from Bihar, Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa and Administrators from Daman and Diu also attended the meeting.
During the discussion, Chief Minister Baghel gave in-principle consent to the scheme, and supported the demand of the states to extend the time-limit for payment of electricity subsidy. Besides the development of new power infrastructure in the state under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, action will be taken to upgrade and to strengthen the existing infrastructure as well.
Under this scheme, installation of smart meters for every consumer, except the agriculture consumers, will be ensured. Central Government has set 31 December 2021 as the deadline for submission of detailed project report under this scheme. The estimated cost of this scheme is Rs 9600 crore, which is targeted to be completed by March 2025. On this occasion, Special Secretary, Energy Department Mr. Ankit Anand was also present at the Chief Minister’s residence.
