CM asks women to get their babies weighed and evaluate nourishment level

Bhilai, Jul 07: On Wednesday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel conducted virtual interaction with the women of village Khopra of Patan Block in Durg District during the inauguration function of “Weight Festival”. The weight festival will be celebrated in Anganwadis during July 07 to 16 by the Women and Child Development Department.
This programme was organized at Anganwadi center number 12 of village Khopra. On this occasion, he discussed the importance of this event with the women as well as Anganwadi workers. He took information from Anganwadi workers about the nourished and malnourished children of Anganwadi.
During discussion with the mothers, he said that the future of children depends on their present; hence it is necessary to secure their future by providing a better today.
Chief Minister appealed to evaluate the nourishment level of all children up to the age of 5 years by getting them weighed compulsorily.
He instructed the officials to follow the Covid protocol while conducting the weight festival. Vipin Jain, District Programme Officer, Women and Child Development Department, informed that arrangements for electronic weighing machine, salter machine, infantometer, stadiometer and community growth chart etc have been arranged for 1502 Anganwadi centers.
Nutrition level information will be obtained from the BMI index. In the Anganwadi centers of the district, the weight of about One lakh children will be taken, in which haemoglobin test will also be done for adolescent girls through the health department.
On this occasion, School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh, Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhendia, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister – Subrata Sahu, Secretary to Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Women and Child Development Department Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale, Director Social Welfare P Dayanand and Women and Child Development Department Director Divya Mishra were present.
