Citizens urged to avoid NH and commute on diverted routes

Bhilai, Sep 09: Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure and SP Badrinarayan Meena inspected the Kumhari flyover on Thursday and gave necessary instructions to the officials in view of the traffic problems. Collector asked the NH Division of PWD to open the flyover for small vehicles by October 15 and for all vehicles by November 15.
He asked them to be sure to adhere to this deadline. In view of the frequent heavy traffic jams on the National Highway connecting Durg to Raipur, Collector said that the daily target of progress in construction is also very important. He asked the concerned parties to work on a war footing and finish the task within the time frame. If the work is not completed before deadline, the administration will take strict action against the concerned parties. Collector said that a large number of people travel between Durg and Raipur. It is the top priority of administration to provide them fully facilitated road with no traffic jams. He added that the situation on NH will be monitored continuously. Assistant Collector Hemant Nandanwar, ASP Sanjay Dhruv, SDM Brijesh Kshatriya and other officers were present during the inspection.
Collector appealed to the citizens to take alternative routes for commuting between Bhilai and Raipur. He said that though the officials of NH have been instructed to conduct construction work expeditiously, but due to increasing traffic load, the citizens may face the problem of traffic jam at some point of time on this route. Alternate routes are also available for traffic movement. He urged the people to take these routes as it will also consume the same amount of fuel and time.
Traffic Police officials said that potholes have developed on the roads due to rains. The speed of traffic movement reduced considerably due to potholes and dilapidated roads. Collector asked the NH officials not to let such a situation arise at all. Monitor regularly and take immediate action when repairs are needed. Along with this, he also instructed the officers to keep an eye on the drainage.
During the inspection, Collector instructed the SDM to identify the encroachments on the road and remove them. Along with this, instructions were also given to take action against illegal vehicle parking. He said that if electricity pole shifting is needed, it should also be done.
