Central Chronicle News
Raipur, Mar 01: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that budget presented by him in Chhattisgarh Assembly today would take the state to new heights in each and every field. The budget carries forward the spirit of ‘Gadhbo Nava Chhattisgarh’, he said while talking to the media after presenting budget today.
While COVID pandemic led to decline in income of both Centre and State Government, efforts were made to minimise its impact on the common people, Baghel said. He said that Chhattisgarh was yet to get GST outstanding of around Rs 18000 of its share from the Centre.
Despite non receipt of GST from Centre, efforts were made to avoid inconvenience to the common people, said Baghel. While salaries of government employees and MLAs were curtailed in several states due to COVID situation, no such measure was taken in Chhattisgarh, he said.
There seems to be a change in perception about Chhattisgarh in the last two years, Baghel said, explaining that Chhattisgarh is not being perceived as a Naxal-affected state. He said that rules would be framed to bring all the farmers under Rajiv Nyay Yojana.
To a question over reduction of VAT on petroleum products the Chief Minister said that petrol and diesel prices in Chhattisgarh are cheaper than that of other states. According to him Chhattisgarh has better financial management than BJP ruled states.
