Ch’garh bags three national awards

Chhattisgarh on Thursday received three prestigious national awards from the Government of India for remarkable works done towards the welfare and empowerment of Divyangjans.
Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development (CWCD) Minister Anila Bhediya received these awards from President of India Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities in a function organized at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday.
Social Welfare Department Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale, Director P. Dayanand, Deputy Secretary Rajesh Tiwari, Joint Director Pankaj Verma were also present on the occasion.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel extended his congratulations and best wishes to the winners of national awards.
The Braille Press operated in Bilaspur by Social Welfare Department; Government of Chhattisgarh has bagged award in the “Best Braille Press” category. The press has done remarkable work in the field of online education in e-library under Accessible Library (Sugamya Pustakalaya) besides preparing textbooks, literature and informative books in Braille script for visually impaired people. Besides, Braille Ballot Papers to help visually impaired exercise their franchise were also printed by this press. Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority received national award for outstanding work in creating a barrier-free environment (from roads to buildings and public places) in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar for Divyangjans where they can move about safely and freely.
Nukkad Tea Cafe Ventures of Samta Colony Raipur was conferred with national award in the “Best Employers and Placement Officers and/or Agencies” category. The venture is doing outstanding work in connecting hearing impaired people with self-employment and creating positive environment in the society towards Divyangjans. The customers at café are offered amazing service by the hearing impaired staff with a smile.
Meanwhile, every year on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities functioning under the Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment confers National Awards on individuals, institutions, states, and districts for outstanding work done by them in the field of empowerment of Divyangjans.
