
Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development Minister Ramshila Sahu today attended the first meeting of National Council on India’s Nutrition Challenges under POSHAN Abhiyaan and informed in detail about efforts taken by the state government in tackling nutrition related challenges in Chhattisgarh.
Union Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar, Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development department Secretary Dr. M Geeta and representatives of various ministries of Central and State Governments were present at the meeting.
During the meeting held at Vigyan Bhawan here, Smt. Sahu said that 15 districts out of 27 districts of Chhattisgarh have been included in the National POSHAN Mission. The mission includes Information and Communication technology enabled Real Time Monitoring (RTM) for improving the ICDS service delivery system.
She added that 17 thousand 51 Anganwadi workers of 8 districts of the state have been given smart phones under the POSHAN Abhiyaan and they have been capturing all the beneficiary wise information of the services provided by them through their mobile device.
The minister said that Gram Suraj Abhiyaan has been launched at national level from April 14 to May 5, 2018 and Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development department will organize POSHAN Abhiyaan as part of gram sabha at gram panchayats.
POSHAN Abhiyaan was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. POSHAN stands for Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition. It aims to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children.
