Cash, jewelleris worth Rs 2 lakh stolen

Raipur: Unidentified burglars broke into two houses located in separate areas of the city and decamped with cash and valuables worth over Rs 2 lakh collectively from both the places.

According to police, the first burglary was reported in Civil Lines police station wherein unidentified burglars broke into the locked house of complainant Deep Soni’s father in Kavita Nagar. Deep’s parents are presently out of the city and he resides with his family in another house in Mahaveer Nagar.

On Saturday evening, Deep was informed by a neighbour in Kavita Nagar that main door of his father’s house is lying open. Stunned by the information, Deep rushed to Kavita Nagar and found that the lock has been broken and missing. Further entering in the house, he found that everything inside had been completely ransacked and the almirah too had been broken open.

It was later revealed that the burglars had taken away cash Rs 15000 and several gold and silver ornaments, all totalling to about Rs 1.50 lakh. Civil Lines police, in the meantime, have registered an offence under Section 457, 380 IPC against unidentified burglars and now further investigation is underway. In the other burglary reported in Pandri police station, unidentified burglars entered into the unlocked house of complainant Chitrarekha Sahu in Mowa’s Panchwati Nagar on Saturday between 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 75000.

The complainant, at that time, was as her neighbour’s house by simply bolting the main door from outside which was taken advantage of by the burglars. Chitrarekha later complained the burglary at Pandri police station following which police have registered an offence under Section 454, 380 IPC against unidentified burglars and is now investigating the matter further.
