BSP remembers colleagues who lost their lives in 2018 gas mishap

Bhilai, Oct 09: Senior offices of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant led by Director I/c Anirban Dasgupta gathered at Sanyantra Bhavan on Oct 09, 2020 to pay condolences to the victims of the gas mishap that took place on October 09, 2018. While Rajeev Sehgal, ED (Works) and several other officers and representative of workers union were physically present at Sanyantra Bhavan Conference Hall to pay condolences and observe a two-minute silence, other Executive Directors of the Plant and other members of the Bhilai collective from different departments of the Plant joined in through video conferencing facility, in view of the current COVID times that forbid large gatherings.
At the outset, VK Shrivastava, CGM (EMD) spelt out measures taken by SAIL-BSP to prevent gas mishap like the one on October 09, 2018. Director I/c Anirban Dasgupta addressed the virtual condolence session and emphasised on the use of modern technology to prevent such incidents. This was followed by a two-minute silence to pay condolences.
Members of the collective of Energy Management Department along with members of workers union also gathered at EMD office premises to pay their condolences by offering flowers before portraits of their departed colleagues and observing two minute silence. Members of the Plant’s Fire Services Dept also observed two minute silence as a mark of respect for their colleagues who lost their lives in the mishap.
