BSP officers stage peaceful protest; wear black badges
Central Chronicle News
Bhilai, Jun 21: On the call of Steel Executives Federation of India, the executives working in different units of SAIL wore black badges on Monday and staged peaceful protest against the management. Senior and junior officers of SAIL actively participated in this campaign to make it successful in all departments, production houses, offices and captive mines including Dalli-Rajhara, Hiri, and Nandini.
It needs to be mentioned here that the last pay revision of the officers was conducted in the year 2007 and they are waiting for the third pay revision since 2017. Initially, the Ministry of Steel and SAIL Management did not implement the wage revision citing the terms of the Affordability Clause.
Now when the officers are eligible for the third pay revision on the basis of financial performance, SAIL Management and Ministry of Steel is trying to link the wage revision of executives with the employees in a very illogical way. There is huge resentment among the officers
of SAIL.
Further, the Junior Officers of 2008 and 2010 batch are working on lower pay scale than their fellow employees. The discrepant wage revision done by SAIL Management in the year 2014 is the reason behind this situation.
SAIL Management had ignored the DPE guidelines due to which the Junior Officers of 2008 and 2010 batch are forced to work on lower salary than their fellow employees and personnel who were promoted officers in the year 2018.
Pressing the demands of settlement of 3rd pay revision of officers, pay scale fixation of Junior Officers 2008 and 2010 batches and compassionate employment for the dependents of employees who died due to corona infection; SEFI is conducting peaceful demonstrations in a phased manner.
Due to the lack of assurance and decisive initiative by the SAIL management so far, SEFI conducted black badge campaign on June 21, 2021 in all the units of SAIL.
SEFI President Narendra Kumar Banchhore informed that the financial benefits of the officers are being curtailed by the management and the ministry for undue reasons. In this process DPE guidelines passed by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India are being neglected by SAIL Management and Ministry of Steel. In this connection, SEFI has conducted meeting with the Union Minister of Steel Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste and the officials of Ministry of Steel, DPE in SAIL. Banchhore informed that they have already placed the demand for “Adjustable Adhoc Arrears” before the SAIL Management.
SEFI President thanked all the executives for participating in the demonstrations and urged them to stay prepared for the next protest programme. He added that if the management does not take a fair decision in favour of SAIL officers, then SEFI will be forced to stage aggressive agitation.
