Brahmakumari organised symposium on World Anti-tobacco day

Korba, May 31: Under the joint auspices of Social Welfare Department and Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya, a symposium on the subject “Tambaku Ka Anjaam, Maut Ka Paigam” was organised on World Anti tobacco Day on 31st of May. Deputy Collector and Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department, Sanjay Markam said that making people aware of the harmful effects of tobacco is an important duty of administration. The deadful effect of tobacco can be seen in form of death. Massive public awareness campaigns are required all round the year in order to spread awareness among public.
Dr. KC Debnath said that health is an asset which is being robbed by tobacco. It is of two forms- smoke and smokeless, and both lead to cancer. Tobacco releases a chemical named nicotine, which affects the brain. It gives pleasure initially, but the person forms a habit and it has severe ill effects in the long run.
Additional General Manager of NTPC, Ramkumar Sahu said that one day is not sufficient to make people aware of the ill effects of tobacco.
Brahmkumari Rukmani said that our body is like a temple and we must maintain cleanliness in it. One should have an addiction of doing good deeds. Brahmkumari Bindu led the oath of saying no to tobacco. Brahmkumari Sarika successfully anchored the program.
