BMC uses street plays, dance to spread cleanliness message

Bhilai, Aug 09: Under “Swachhta Sankalp Desh Ka, har Ravivar Vishesh Sa”, a special campaign was launched in the Bhilai Corporation area regarding cleanliness. The campaign which started on Sunday morning began with the cleaning of all the zone office premises under the Corporation. The staff went to Nehru Nagar Zone Office, Vaishali Nagar Zone Office, Mother Teresa Nagar Zone Office and Shivaji Nagar Zone Office and cleaned the premises.
Under the campaign, street plays and dance programmes were conducted in Santoshi Para, Ward No 25 to bring awareness about cleanliness among the people. Baikunth Dham pond was cleaned with the help of public representatives, sanitation workers and others who volunteered physical effort and also took cleanliness oath.
Tree plantation was also done at several places along with spreading the message of cleanliness. Special cleanliness drive was conducted near ten bed hospital, Santoshi Para, Tata Line, Shyam Nagar and other areas of Ward number 21. Also, banners and posters were used to make people aware on the need to keep surroundings clean.
Here it is worth mentioning that on every Sunday of the month of August, “Swachhta Sankalp Desh ka, har ravivar Vishesh sa ” campaign is being run on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi. It started from August 09.
On the first Sunday, Gandagi se aazadi campaign was taken up where Safai Mitras conducted street plays in the slum area, tree plantation, oath to the citizens for cleanliness was done. Next Sunday would have the campaign “Gharelu Hanikarak Kachre se Azadi” which would bring awareness about waste in colonies and segregation of waste, then on the third Sunday the campaign would be against single use plastics and disposal in the market and homes and on the fourth Sunday campaign will be against littering and spitting, elimination of GVP points in colonies, beautification of the city through wall painting. Citizens are also actively participating in these programs.
