BMC felicitates Elders under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

Bhilai, Oct 08: A special week is being observed from October 4 to October 10 on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in the Bhilai Municipal Corpora-tion limits. On Friday a felicitation ceremony was organised in the corporation auditorium for the beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme i.e., those 80 years and above. The senior citizens were honoured with Shawl and coconut. The function began with the garlanding of the portrait of Mother India by senior citizens. The special programme was organised as a part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of independence as a festival Amrit Mahotsav. Bhilai Commissioner Prakash Surwe, Additional Commi-ssioner Ashok Dwivedi and Deputy Commissioner Sunil Agrahari first felicitated elderly. Elders residing under Bhilai Corporation area were present on this occasion. Social welfare officer Donar Singh Thakur and Patel as well as Ajay Shukla were present in the ceremony.
