BJP stages walkout on being denied to raise issues

Raipur: Principal opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday walkout from the proceedings of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly after Question Hour following the aggressive approach of the ruling Congress members on the issue of decision of state government to provide eggs to the children under mid-day meal programme.

BJP walkout from the proceedings to protest the allegedly being denied the opportunity to put their views on the issue amidst aggressive Treasury bench. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, the BJP Legislator Shivratan Sharma sought immediate discussion on the issue as he informed the Presiding over about the adjournment motion moved by the BJP members.

BJP MLA from Raipur South Brijmohan Agrawal joined him alleging that the government wants to introduce the eggs in mid-day meal programme to favour egg seller. It sparked protest from the Treasury bench with the Cabinet Minister Kawashi Lakhma and Minister for Food & Civil Supplies Amarjeet Bhagat launching attack on the BJP. Amidst uproar, the BJP Legislators announced their walkout from the proceedings on grounds that on the basis of huge strength inside the Legislative Assembly, the BJP with few members, are not allowed to speak on any issue which they alleged is an attempt to kill democracy.

Leader of Opposition Dharmlal Kaushik too joined them in the protest and announced boycotting the proceedings. It forced the Presiding Officer to adjourn the proceedings for 10 minutes after Question Hour Session.
