Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Election Committee meet held on Saturday discussed the names in the panel submitted for the Marwahi Legislative Assembly by-elections scheduled to be held on November 3.
Prior to the discussion, the Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dharmlal Kaushik and By-election in-charge Amar Agrawal briefed the members of the Election Committee with the opinions given by the party rank and file during their day-long visit to the poll-bound constituency.
Prominent names discussed for the candidate include former candidates Archana Porte as well as Samira Paikra whereas few of them advocated for fresh face for the November 3 by-elections. Dr Gambhir Singh is also among front runner for the candidature from the saffron brigade.
It is notable that the By-election in-charge Amar Agrawal had submitted a panel to the party high command in which four names were mentioned as probable for the by-elections.
It was on the opinion of top leaders that the Leader of Opposition Kaushik and election in-charge Amar Agrawal had gone to the constituency to not only hold talks with the senior leaders from the region as well as to study the existing political equations.
After discussion on the various names, the State Election Committee would forward the recommendations to the central leadership to take a final decision on the candidate for the Marwahi by-elections.
