Frauds dupe man of Rs 3000 on pretext of COVID-19 vaccine

In a bizarre instance of fraud reported at Civil Lines police station in capital Raipur, two persons duped a man in Katora Talab locality of Rs 3000 on pretext of administering COVID-19 vaccine to his ailing wife.
According to police, complainant Santosh Tolwani’s wife had recently developed some illness associated with high fever following which he had approached a nearby COVID-19 testing camp seeking advice for further course of medication. The following day two persons identifying themselves as Deepa Das and Rakesh Chand approached him at his house and introduced themselves as health workers from Ambedkar hospital and said that his wife needs to be immediately administered COVID-19 vaccine or else she will get infected by the coronavirus disease. Saying so, they took from Sanotsh Rs 3000 as charges for the COVID=19 vaccine and administered some spurious injection to his wife and moved away.
The fraud came to light only after health of Santosh’s wife deteriorated further and she was rushed to Ambedkar hospital for further treatment. Police, meanwhile have registered an offence under Section 420, 34 IPC against the above named frauds and is now investigating the matter further.

Bike lifted
Raipur: Unidentified lifter escaped with a Honda Activa bike CG04-LH-4299 from outside a house in DD Nagar Sector-1 locality while its owner Jitesh Kumar Gohil of Bhatagaon in Purani Basti was visiting a relative here. The lifting was later complained in Purani Basti police station following which police have registered an offence under Section 379 IPC against unidentified lifter and is now investigating the matter further.

One held under NDPS Act
Raipur: Dharsinwa police on Tuesday night arrested a ganja peddler under NDPS Act after he was nabbed illegally possessing 1.100 kg of the contraband. Identified as Rajesh Sisodia, the accused was nabbed from outside Shiv Temple near Mahendra Chowk in Siltara phase=II locality. Sisodia was immediately taken to police station where he was later booked under Section 20B of NDPS Act.


One arrested under Arms Act

Raipur: Civil Lines police on Tuesday night arrested a man under Arms Act from near Shiv Temple in Raja Talab locality after he was nabbed red-handed terrorising the locals armed with a knife. Identified as Jagmohan Baghel, the accused was immediately taken to the police station where he was later booked under Section 25, 27 of Arms Act.

Two arrested under Excise Act
Raipur: Two persons have been arrested under Excise Act from separate police station areas during last 24-hours. The first one, identified as Bhuwane Jagat, was arrested by Civil Lines police from Panchsheel Nagar locality after he was nabbed illegally possessing 25 bottles of foreign liquor. The next one, identified as Abhishek Simon, was arrested by Telibandha police from Seema Nagar locality after he was nabbed illegally possessing 18 bottles of foreign liquor. Both the accused were later booked under Section 34-1 of Excise Act by respective police stations.
