Bapu Darshan: an exhibition on Gandhiji inaugurated at Nehru Art Gallery

Bhilai, Oct 02: Anirban Dasgupta, Director Incharge, Bhilai Steel Plant, Executive Directors including Rakesh, ED (MM), AK Bhatta, ED(Projects), CGMs and senior officials paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation on his birth anniversary on Saturday at Bhilai Niwas. Prayers were held remembering the Father of the Nation. Short verses from Holy texts the Bhagavad Gita, Quran Sharif, Guru Granth Sahib and the Holy Bible were recited. Songs in remembrance of Gandhiji were rendered by artists of Sports and Recreation group of Bhilai Steel Plant. The programme at Bhilai Niwas was compeered by Supriyo Sen. An exhibition titled ‘Bapu Darshan’ under the banner of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ showcasing photographs of the different activities taken up by Bhilai Steel Plant to help fulfil the vision of Gandhiji was inaugurated at Nehru Art Gallery. The exhibition was inaugurated by Rakesh, ED (MM), BSP at Civic Centre. The activities carried out by BSP in various fields like Women Empowerment, development of villages, self-employment, hygiene, etc were displayed. Also, an exhibition on Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on Publications & other memorabilia by Ashish Das, portrayed by PR Department showcasing various international magazines and newspapers such as Time, Newsweek etc which portrayed Gandhiji on the cover, various newspapers published / edited like Harijan, Navjivan, Young India etc. by Gandhiji etc were displayed at Nehru Art Gallery. The precious collection includes documents related to the Jallianwalla Bagh massacre, boycott of foreign goods, Civil Disobedience movement, Harijan removal bill and even SIM cards of foreign countries featuring Gandhiji.

The originals of these items belong to a collection of Ashish Das, Senior Manager (SMS-2).
