Awareness Training Programme on ISO 17025 organised

Bhilai, Jul 21: Research and Control LAB of SAIL- Bhilai Steel Plant has taken a step ahead towards excellence by organising Awareness Training Programme on ISO 17025 (Batch-I & II) with 60 participants and four day Internal Auditor Training Programme.
The programme has 25 participants, who will attend the training from July 19 to July 24 as a first step towards NABL accreditation, by M/s Bureau Veritas, a renowned world leader in testing, inspection and certification services (TIC).
The programme was inaugurated by Anjani Kumar, ED (W), Bhilai Steel Plant. Sandip Kumar Kar, CGM (Q), Saurabh SInha, GM (HRD), SSRC Murthy, GM (RCL), Sanjeev Shrivastava, DGM (HRDD), SK Palo, AGM (HRDD), Richa Awasthi, Manager (RCL) and Sanjay Tiwari, AM (HRDD) were present on the occasion.
All the sessions are being conducted by Jishnu Chattpadhyay, National Lab Quality manager in Bureau Veritas, managing quality of 30 odd laboratories across the country as well as laboratories in Bangladesh and Shri Lanka.
Jishnu Chattopadhyay is a Mechanical Engineer, working in the field of quality for last 30 years and experienced in calibration and testing of different disciplines. He is a certified auditor of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 17020, 17025 and supply chain management. The programme has been successfully organized with the coordination of HRDD & BE department.
To reach out customers in a better way and to standardize its process and products in domestic as well as international market, Bhilai Steel Plant is stepping ahead towards excellence by planning to get NABL Accreditation.
NABL accreditation will not only benefit the company in terms of Increased Customer confidence in Testing Reports issued by the laboratory, it will also provide greater access to products, in both domestic and international markets as well as international traceability.
Currently, RCL has ISO 9000 Certification (Quality System Management). The NABL Accreditation will provide formal recognition of technical competence of the Lab, thus providing a ready means for customers to find reliable testing services in order to meet their demands as well as the Quality system.
As M/s NPCIL, L&T, CPWD and many more companies are going to come up with projects, where it would be mandatory for contractors to source finished products from steel producers having in-house NABL accredited test facilities to facilitate shift towards NABL accreditation in the market scenario, RCL is going for NABL accreditation of Central Chemical Lab (CCL) in order to achieve competitive edge in the market. After successful accreditation of CCL, phase wise accreditation will be planned for other product testing Laboratories of RCL i.e. MTL-I & MTL-II, URM Lab, Rolling Mill Lab etc.
