The arrest of Samudra Singh by EOW and ACB is a strong step towards corruption free governance in the state, claims Congress leader Nitin Bhansali. Expressing his gratitude towards CM Bhupesh Baghel, Bhansali added that continuous efforts of EOW DIG Arif Sheikh made possible the arrest of Singh.
He mentioned that soon after Congress came to power, he registered a 119 page complaint with EOW and Chief Minister against Singh alleging of corruption worth Rs 5000crore. In course of investigation two years back raid was conducted at the residence of accused in case of accumulating huge property much more than his income. From that time Singh was absconding. Bhansali demanded that some BJP leaders and staff working under him in the excise department along with liquor contractors should also be brought under investigation.
It was further revealed that at least 5000 corruption cases were committed in the Excise Department while Singh was in office. CAG in its report had also indicated of economic malpractices worth Rs 1500 crore in Chhattisgarh Excise Department while Singh was at the helm in the department and had direct involvement in all the corruption cases.
