Archaeological excavation begins at Jamrao near river Kharun

To unfold the past and how the humans existed about 2000 years ago, the skilled craftsmen of the Archaeological Department on Wednesday took up the excavation of a site near Jamrao off Kharun river. At the beginning excavations have been limited to two hillocks in the area. It is expected that the remains at the excavation site would make it possible to reconstruct the civilization that existed near Kharun river ages ago. way of living in the the of Chhattisgarh is going to open again This time this work is being done from Jamrao. Today, the team of Archeology Department reached and inaugurated excavation at Jamrao. In Jamrao there will be excavation in two hills. It is expected that the remains of two thousand years old civilization will be obtained from which historians will be able to get more information on the civilization during the Kushan Era. Earlier, the Museum incharge Dr Pratap Chand Parakh had done a survey in relation to possibility of ancient civilization in the hills. During the survey he had found some remains of the Kushan era on the top layer of the mounds in the area. Based on the remains, Dr Singh has sent proposal for the excavation in Jamrao area to the Archaeological Survey of India. The proposal has been approved and so the excavation on the site has been initiated.
On Wednesday, this work was inaugurated in the presence of Anil Kumar Sahu, Director, State Archaeological Department; Rahul Singh, Deputy Director; PC Parakh, Museum incharge and Tehsildar Anubhav Sharma. People from the village also collected in large number at the inauguration of the excavation work.
