ACB files FIR against Dy. Collector

Bilaspur, Oct 05: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed FIR against the Prevention of Corruption Act against the Dy. Collector Bijapur Narayan Prasand Gabel. He is facing the charges of entering into partnership with builders while serving as Tehsildar in Bilaspur and registering government land in the name of private persons. It was about five months back, ACB has lodged complaint along with documents against NP Gabel and in this it was informed that with just 8 yrs of service he has created disproportionate assets worth Rs 8 crore.
Had invested Rs 70 lakhs, R/o Korba district:
ACB in its investigation has found investment to the tune of Rs 70 lakhs by Gabel in gold, silver jewelleries, fixed deposit and Mutual Fund. He has purchased immovable assets in the name of his father and family members worth Rs 1 crore. He owns a big house in Sarita Vihar in Bilaspur and is having 5 plots in the name of his family members in Gram Girdhouri of Kartala block of Korba district and it is estimated to be around Rs 25 lakhs. Apart from this Gabel is having three luxury cars and one bike in the name of his relative.
Facing charges of
handing over govt land to private persons:
While serving as Tehsildar Bilaspur, Gabel has charged he has handed over Nazul land in the name of private individuals. In addition to this the land which was not having any claimant for last many years has been transferred into other’s name. Along with this in nexus with the builders, he was reported to have being involved in real estate business too. There were regular complaints against him, but the Revenue Officers were not taking any action. Contrary to this he got promoted as Dy. Collector and got transferred to Bijapur and after which FIR was filed against him. ACB has filed case under section 13-1B and 13-2 of Prevention of Corruption Act against Gabel.
