7 persons arrested stealing 13 log of ‘Teak’ wood

Katagi, Aug 05: Four thieves were taken into arrest on charges of stealing costly Teak wood from reserved forest area No. 392 of Giroud premises coming under Arjuni Forest area of Maharaji circle.
The vigilance team of Forest department arrested the four thieves from the jungle while cutting teak trees and they all belonged to Gram Panhayat Manakoni. The thieves taking advantage of floods in River Jonk threw the log of teak woods stolen from Jungle of Arjuni forest into the river. But they could not save themselves from eye s of Ranger Santosh Chouhan and were taken into arrest.
This action was taken as per instructions from DFO Balodabazar KR Badai and Dy DFO Kasdol Vinod Thakur under direction of Forest circle office Arjuni Santosh Chouhan. Four persons were taken into arrest viz. Jalsingh Patel, Sudarshan Patel, Mannu Singh Gond, Dinesh Kumar Patel and from them 13 pieces of logs of teak wood measuring 0.217 cubic meter was seized. In this case three more persons were taken into arrest viz. Jagmohan Patel, Dilram Kemwat, Balwant Paikra and they were booked under section 6 of Indian Forest Act 1927 and case No. 15587/03 dated Aug 1, 2021 was filed against them and matter was taken into investigation.
In the above action, Basant Khandekar Forest guard, Chandrabhuwan Manhare, Rajeshwar Verma, Tripti Jaiswal, Ravindra Pandey, Narottam Paikra, Sunita Paikra and safety labourers gave valuable support.
