20 years of journalism experience essential for Vice Chancellor at KTU

Raipur: Minimum 20 years of experience in the field of Journalism would be essential for the post of Vice Chancellor in the state-run University of Journalism & Mass Communication.

Minister for Higher Education Umesh Patel made the above statement while replying during the discussion for seeking approval to the amendments in the Kushabhau Thakre University (KTU) of Journalism & Mass Communication Amendment Bill 2019 in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly here on Thursday.

Speaking further, the amendments in the Act is not just for changing the Vice Chancellor but is also to fill up the vacant post in emergency like situation. As per the provision being made in the Act, the appointment of Vice Chancellor could also be made for a short period of 6 months in case of emergency on vacant post.

Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly gave approval to the amendments in the Act with voice vote during the ongoing Monsoon Session. Assembly also gave approval to the amendments in Sunderlal Sharma Open University Amendment Bill 2019 after a brief discussion on it.
