14 couples tie nuptial knots at mass marriage in Vaishali Nagar

Bhilai, Feb 17: Mass marriage event under Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojna was organized here at Vaishali Nagar Sanskritik Bhavan on Wednesday. 14 couples tied nuptial knots after performing all the traditional rituals of marriage. Bhilai MLA Devendra Yadav, Former Mayor and Antyavasayi Corporation Vice President Neeta Lodhi and other dignitaries attended the function.
MLA Devendra and Neeta Lodhi joined the marriage procession which was taken out from the Sanskritik Bhavan with pomp and gaiety. MLA Devendra Yadav and Former Mayor Neeta Lodhi extended best wishes and greetings to the newly married couples. Purohit from Gayatri Pariwar conducted the rituals of the marriage. The procession was accorded warm welcome and all the baaratis were greeted with tilak and garlands.
MLA Devendra Yadav said that Chief Minister Bhupesh Badhel has introduced the scheme of providing Rs 25000 to every bride after which the newlyweds were provided various items of daily use. He thanked Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for this initiative.
With the increase in amount, now the newly married couples are provided almirah, iron rack, steel utensil, cooker, bucket, Mangal Sutra, mattress, toe ring, clock and Rs One thousand to start their new life. Due to corona virus pandemic, marriages of limited number of couples is being conducted at different places. MLA Devendra Yadav said that under the scheme, marriage programmes will be held at 28 places in Durg district till March 5.
On this occasion, Project Officer Pooja Agrawal from Women and Child Development Department, Supervisor Umesh Shukla, Deepshikha Nayak, Preeti Dewangan, Chairperson of Siyan Sadan Tarsem Singh Mehra, Gulab Rao Sonar, Ratanlal Goyal, Sharda Prasad Patkar, Sandeep Dwivedi, Arun Rai, Aditya Singh, Afroz Khan and others were present.
